Kansas City, MO, Artist, Chester Thompson III, Was Recently Selected to Display Artwork in the Pentagon in Washington, D.C..

Veterans Artist Program, (VAP) is honored to launch the first ever dedicated Veteran Artist Exhibit at the Pentagon in conjunction with the Pentagon Art Curator and the Pentagon Patriotic Art Series.  A call for submissions went out this fall across the country for veterans to submit their artwork to a jury of accomplished arts industry professionals, distinguished Pentagon VIPs, and Veteran leaders.

Kansas City, Missouri, artist, Chester Thompson III, was recently selected to display artwork in the Pentagon in the Washington, D.C area.

Thompson’s artwork entitled, "Farmers Market", was selected for the Pentagon Exhibit from over 400 artists from around America. In addition he submitted a few pieces about himself in order for VAP to create a personalized comprehensive exhibition piece for the show, which will include biographical and military background information.

Mr. Thompson was also chosen along with nine other artists to exhibit that same piece, "Farmers Market", with VAP during the Council of College and Military Educators Annual Conference in San Diego, on February 25-28, 2013.

This event is on-going from May 8 2013 to May 8 2014.  This exhibit will grace the halls of the Pentagon where over 25,000 people work daily and thousands visit over the course of the year.  This will be the first-ever veteran-specific art exhibit presented in the massive Department of Defense headquarters building, which is located in Arlington, VA.

Mr. Thompson is the Co-founder of Chapter 41, National Association for Black Veterans, Inc. Kansas City, MO and has been married to his wife, Mary since 2001.  He is the son of Chester Thompson, Jr., President of the Black Economic Union, (BEU) of Kansas City, MO, and Lessie J. Thompson, local chairperson of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. State Celebration Commission.
